The Right Key Will Always Open The Lock!
We all have somewhere stored in our minds “keys” that we hope to be able to use in times of distress or even joy; but, the truth is this; The Right Key Will Always Open The Lock. Yes, those time and memorial tested and may as well say universal keys that are sure to work, always and for whatever. We have all been told somewhere in our life, secular and scriptural keys like,
- If one door closes, another one will open.
- The Lord will make a way somehow!
- This is the Day that the Lord Has Made, We Will Rejoice and Be Glad In It! Psalm 118:24 KJV
- Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Ephesians 6:13 KJV
- But, as it is written, Eye has not seen or ear heard, nor has entered into the heart of man what things that God has prepared for those who love Him. 1Corinthians 2:9 KJV
Except, that is to say that , no one can prepare you for the time when you run up against that place, that time,or that event. “That” which will literally knock the wind out of you and drop you to your knees. And, when the music that used to make you smile doesn’t even seem to help!
Yes, that time when those keys don’t work what do you do then? Times like when terrible and unforseen things creep into your life at times of unaware, like:
- Your child has been molested
- The death of a loved one that you prayed dearly to the Lord for
- The loss of a home
- Suicide of a loved one
- Some other kind of unforseen circumstance
Do you doubt the sages of old in your life? Is it possible that you are the only person that this statement is not true for?
After you lived for a while and been through a few things, you feel like you have come to a place called Arrived! Yes, intellectually intact, spiritually in tuned and physically, as the old saints would say, have a relatively good portion of health and strength. Things are so good, and you have managed to keep your life so organized; systematized and neatly organized into rows.
But now, how about that last option there? That one that will come up when it seems that you have no options or you have not had the time to employ the options you do have; and you feel the hit, unshielded and unarmored? That place is no longer Arrived, but is now Vulnerable!!!
|Diagram of Waste Hierarchy – Wikipedia|
The aim of the waste hierarchy is to extract the maximum practical benefits from products and to generate the minimum amount of waste. And this is how it usually is with us in that vast space called the mind. As in, “The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste!”
The mind then is where our faculties such as reason, memory, sight, perception, imagination, attention, hearing, and a capacity for communication is. And is where we have learned to experience the emotions of anger fear, joy and sadness. All learned through various experiences. All experiences properly categorized by the mind into rows or rooms and with each having its own separate hook or address. Each address cataloged into the mind and accessible by its own specific criteria. Some by trauma (See Trauma and let’s define Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).
If one is not careful, adverse situations that come into your life can destroy you, because it is in the mind where battles of this kind are fought and mostly through the faculty of our reason. And if our mind cannot find what it needs in and through its own unique system of cataloguing on a row or a hook, it simply does not know what to do!
Fear then can go haywire. The fight or flight mechanism has become fully engaged! Especially when the key that it needs to deal effectively with the task at hand cannot be found or accessed in the mind, it becomes a place of conflict when it cannot find the thoughts, feelings or actions it needs. (See Grief and Loss and tell the truth in love on becoming human again).
Here, some will need to find relief through the help of a physician or psychiatrist with medication. Some will be able to employ, perhaps a meditative technique of some kind. Still others like myself will just make it through on sheer will power, or stubbornness. And, just maybe even on the remnants of faith.
In being human, to encounter weariness along the way, and to be tempted to give up the battle, even while knowing that the enemy, comes to steal, kill and destroy. In essence, he comes to steal from you the witness of your faith.
Perhaps it is here that one should again rely on The Work of the Holy Spirit. Even if it doesn’t change, understand and hear this; God is still keeping you through it all! And even while in pain, remember that God knows the plans that He has for us.
The Holy Spirit is doing what the Holy Spirit does. Interceding on your behalf. Keep the faith, or just simply hold on and you will see that Gabriel will come with the message that he was dispatched as soon as you prayed; but had to wait until some things were worked out for your good for him to be able to show up.
John 14:18, “I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.” Yes, there are times when human beings will be instruments of comfort. There are times, when it is a word of faith, a feeling or impression on your mind of which of course you will recognize as the Holy Spirit’s comfort for you. And when others are sent to do the comforting, it does not mean that the Holy Spirit is not doing the comforting. He is in fact leading and strengthening that person in the comforting of you.
No matter the case, this is the work of the Holy Spirit!
